Slight easing of elective surgery restrictions
The Department of Human Services has issued very clear directives on patient categories for the resumption of elective surgery. Those permitted, in the context of Gynaecology, include all category 1 surgeries which covers all life threatening conditions, high category 2 surgeries which covers a lot of acute pain conditions and now in addition to those we are able to perform surgery on people that fall under the following descriptions: patients under the age of 18 years, cancer and disease scanning requirements, post cancer reconstructive procedures and IVF. The allowable increase in elective surgery lists is only 25% and is very dependant on Personal Protective Equipment being available in the necessary quantities.https://www.dhhs.vic.gov.au/health-services-and-general-practitioners-coronavirus-disease-covid-19#elective
