Dr. Eashan is an experienced Gynaecologist with a focus on minimally invasive surgery. After completing university in 2011 and residency in 2014 in Queensland, he pursued six years of specialist training in Victoria. His extensive experience spans major tertiary hospitals such as The Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, Mater Hospital Brisbane, Mercy Hospital Heidelberg, Monash Health, and The Royal Women’s Hospital in Melbourne.
Dr. Eashan advanced his training with an Australasian Gynaecological Endoscopy and Surgery (AGES) Fellowship under the guidance of A/Prof Catarina Ang. This rigorous two-year, selective and competitive, program at The Royal Women’s Hospital, where he currently serves as a staff specialist and AGES supervisor, enabled him to specialise in new and advanced minimally-invasive techniques. These advanced skills allow him to address complex surgical cases (e.g. stage IV endometriosis, fibroids), resulting in quicker recoveries, reduced pain, fewer complications, and improved patient satisfaction.
His qualifications, including a Masters in Reproductive Medicine, allow Dr. Eashan to provide comprehensive and compassionate care across a spectrum of gynaecological and fertility issues. Additionally, he continues to contribute to public health development by helping establish and lead the Advanced Combined Gynaecology-Colorectal-Urology Surgical Unit and the Public Fertility Service at Northern Health.
Dr. Eashan will bring a patient-centred approach to ensure you receive the best possible support and outcomes. He believes in empowering patients with information that can be at times difficult to navigate, so that they can take control of their own healthcare and decision-making. Dr. Eashan works alongside chronic pain specialists, colorectal surgeons, urologists, pelvic physiotherapists and radiologists, to list a few who are all leaders in their fields.
Dr. Eashan’s research is focussed on minimally invasive surgery, gynaecological pathology, fertility and endometriosis.
FRANZCOG 2015-2020
It was the thrill of delivering a baby and being involved in high-stakes emergencies that gets you hooked. It’s the teachers and mentors that then encourage you. Ultimately, the diversity and variety of the speciality is what continues to interest me. There were areas within the specialty that I felt I could make a meaningful impact in such as bringing equitable access to complex gynaecological conditions to areas that needed it.
I enjoy the consults with patients! Listening to their stories and working on a plan together. I enjoy providing any insights or education that I can and empowering patients to make informed decisions. I have a lot of anecdotes, so I am thankful to anyone who’ll listen. Surgically, anything seemingly complex because I enjoy solving issues that are problems for people that have been considered difficult.
I learnt how best to care for patients from Dr. Paul Howat, to advocate from Dr. Josephine Vivian-Taylor, to strive for excellence from Dr. Samuel Soo, to critically think from Dr. Kym Reid and to lead from A/Prof. Catarina Ang. That is to say, that not just one teacher has been generous with their time or lessons. I have been fortunate and thankful to have benefitted from years of mentorship and experience from countless clinicians, both within and external to my field, who I would have loved to mention as well.
The best feeling is seeing a patient happy at their post-operative appointment. Gaining a sense that they have control back over their lives, they are no longer suffering, they are content and hopeful for the future.
